Engaging children and youth around the world from Bali to Argentina!

Volcanoes book in Bahasa.

Last month, COPE, UNESCO and the Tanjung Benoa Disaster Risk Reduction Forum collaborated to deliver the COPE Volcanoes books to enhance the resilience of children and young people in the Benoa community in Bali.

Students in public elementary and secondary schools across the community participated in DRR programmes to help keep them safe before and after volcanic events. The students enjoyed the story developed at Mount Merapi, Indonesia, one of the world’s most active volcanoes. Children gathered and read about volcanic eruptions, discussed safety information on what to do before an eruption, and focused on the key message – LISTEN. PREPARE. STAY AWARE.

This initiative sought for children to know about Disaster Risk Reduction to share it with friends and family.

We thank Mr Ardito Kodijat from UNESCO and Mr Yan Deddy S from the Tanjung Benoa Disaster Risk Reduction Forum for their efforts in delivering the books to these institutions.

First audiobook in Spanish

At the beginning of this year, we joined forces with the Instituto Argentino para la Reducción de Riesgo de Desastres— IARDD (The Argentinian Institute for Disaster Risk Reduction), an institution that aims to highlight in the community the importance of implementing actions to reduce disaster risks. This organization is distributing the Spanish translation of the COPE books in Argentina. This collaboration has been unique and is impacting hundreds of children.

We are so glad to share with you the first audiobook in Spanish to keep kids engaged while they learn how to be prepared in case of a wildfire.

Keep an eye on this space; all the remaining books of the COPE series will be translated into Spanish soon!

Share this information with your friends and family! 😃 Thank you so much everyone for your support.
