Empowering COPE Champions in Sri Lanka and Bhutan!
🇱🇰 Sri Lanka – Floods Awareness in Schools and Communities
As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness in flood-prone areas of the Southern Province, the Flood Book (Sinhalese version) has been successfully distributed to schools and local community groups in the Matara district.
Eight schools and eight Village Disaster Management Committees (VDMCs) with active children’s clubs received copies of the book to support their disaster awareness activities. Teachers and VDMC members shared positive feedback, noting the children’s excitement and eagerness to share what they learned with their classmates, friends, and families. Thank you Save the Children, Sri Lanka for bringing COPE to this country.

🇧🇹 Bhutan – COPE Books Reaching More Communities
In Bhutan, five COPE titles: Landslides, Wildfires, Heatwaves, Earthquakes, and Floods, were printed and distributed to schools and community centres across the country.
Thanks to our wonderful partnership with READ Bhutan, the books were shared through READ Centres and schools, helping children build awareness and preparedness skills to face disasters safely.
The books turned out beautifully, and our collaborator has already shared photos and videos showing how excited children were to receive them.
