COPE Disaster Series in Tonga

We are honoured to share that COPE has been highlighted by António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, during a recent visit to Tonga. Mr Guterres joined forces with the World Meteorological Organization and METService to raise awareness about the #StateofClimate and the critical need for #EarlyWarningsForAll, particularly in the Pacific Islands. On the frontline of #ClimateChange, these islands face immense challenges from natural hazards and disasters.

Launching the WMO/COPE Initiative

We are delighted that António Guterres took time from his busy schedule to visit a local school, where he launched a new booklet from the WMO/COPE Disaster Champions series. Our beautifully illustrated, not-for-profit series enhances disaster resilience among children, helping them understand and prepare for the hazards that threaten their communities.

Our Commitment to the Future

We believe that children are our future. We are incredibly grateful to Secretary-General Professor Celeste Saulo, Cyrille Honore and Xiao Zhou at The World Meteorological Organization for their ongoing support and for spotlighting COPE’s efforts in this crucial area of disaster risk reduction.

We invite you to explore the WMO/COPE Disaster Champions series and see how our collaboration is making a difference for children facing the impacts of climate change.
